Leviathan Co-Crystal Curcumin is a high-bioavailability curcumin supplement that combines Cocrysta® co-crystal curcumin technology with BioPerine® (piperine from black pepper). The co-crystallization process bonds curcumin with L-carnitine at the molecular level, creating a form that dissolves and absorbs far more efficiently than standard curcumin. BioPerine® further enhances potency and duration by inhibiting the enzymes that normally break curcumin down.

BioPerine® is a patented extract from black pepper fruit, standardised to 95% piperine. Research has shown that piperine can enhance curcumin circulating amount by up to 2,000% by inhibiting glucuronidation, the metabolic process that normally breaks curcumin down before and during circulation. While the co-crystal form already provides superior absorption through rapid uptake, BioPerine® adds a second layer of reduced breakdown enhancement, giving you maximum duration from every capsule.

Both products use the same Cocrysta® co-crystal curcumin technology. The key difference is that Leviathan Co-Crystal Curcumin includes BioPerine® (piperine) as an additional duration enhancer. Instead, the Strom formula includes an extra 100mg per capsule. If you want co-crystal curcumin on its own, or are on medications that the piperine will interact with, the Strom version is a great option. If you want the added effect of piperine working alongside the co-crystal technology for maximum potency, Leviathan is the one to choose.

Taking standard curcumin with black pepper will give you some absorption benefit from the piperine (albeit you will need a LOT of pepper), but you will miss out on the co-crystal advantage entirely. The co-crystallization process creates a specific molecular lattice where L-carnitine molecules act as spacers between curcumin molecules, this requires precise mechanical milling and cannot be replicated by simply mixing ingredients. This product gives you both the co-crystal structure and the piperine enhancement in a single convenient capsule.

The recommended dose is 1-2 capsules daily, taken with food. Each capsule contains the Cocrysta® co-crystal blend (curcuminoids and L-carnitine) plus BioPerine®. For best results, take consistently every day rather than only when you feel you need it, as curcumin has a relatively short half-life in the body. Taking with a meal containing dietary fat can further support absorption.

BioPerine® has an excellent safety profile and has been used in supplements for decades. However, because piperine enhances absorption, it can increase the bioavailability of certain medications. If you are taking prescription drugs, particularly blood thinners, anti-seizure medication, or drugs metabolised by the liver, it is even more critical to consult your healthcare provider before use.
